2018 YE Post Part 3: Zedd, Year Of 2018

Now another year has finally passed by. It’s that time for the Hits 1 YE List. But before we get to that, here’s last year’s #1.
Last Year’s #1: Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You

45. Demi Lovato – Tell Me You Love Me [2; Mediocre]
Demi has been going downhill lately. She’s been yelling a lot in the chorus. There’s some decent songs from her but this isn’t really good. Sorry Not Sorry was a better song and was more well deserved. At least it happened but this song is meh. It’s just another song that talks about sex and love. I don’t hate this song to be honest. When she collared with Clean Bandit with Solo, it was just amazing. Too bad that song only lasted 2 weeks.

44. Halsey – Alone [5; Great]
Halsey is just an awesome music producer. When many people think that they’re tired of Hadley’s voice, I’m not one of them. I feel like this song has the success it deserved and it could’ve had a longer run. The only song from her that wasn’t really good was Now Or Never. I found that song very boring. But this is an amazing song.

43. MAX/Gnash – Lights Down Low [1; Bad]
This song’s over a year tenure was definitely not deserved. MAX’s always had bad music and this is definitely no exception. I don’t know how people can stand this song. I sounds like one of Ed Sheeran’s older songs. And it only became worse during its long countdown tenure. I’ll have to admit that Gnash makes it better but not a lot better. Because of this, it’s not as bad as Gibberish which was the worst song of 2015 IMO. I seriously cannot stand this song. It’s just not a good collab.

42. Kelly Clarkson – Love So Soft [4; Good]
Kelly Clarkson is an amazing singer after all. She won American Idol back in its first season. This song is nowhere near her best because it’s kinda trap, but I still like it. Its also surprising that this song made the YE list despite its short tenure in the calendar year. So yeah, it’s good, but not great.

41. Dua Lipa – New Rules [5; Great]
Dua Lipa is an average singer with some good songs and some bad songs. This song is by far her best. I really started to grow into this song when my sister, Romina had a solo of that song last season. It just keeps getting better and better. I have a feeling that she’s going to release some more amazing songs in the future. What an amazing British singer we’ve had. I remember when she had a song called Blow Your Mind (Mwah) that was stranded on HitBound last year. It unfortunately didn’t make the countdown. And that sucks too because it was a really good song. Now this song is far better. Also, after my sister had it for her solo for one competition, she dropped out of it. The most
unfortunate thing that happened to this song was that it re entered in May. I just don’t know what that happed. Anyway, it’s still really good.

40. The Chainsmokers/Emily Warren – Side Effects [4; Good]
The Chainsmokers is a very good duo but I don’t find this song as appealing as This Feeling that didn’t make the YE list this year. I’d rather have the latter. However, this is still a good song. It’s not great but it’s still appealing. That’s all I’ll have to say about this song.

39. Portugal. The Man – Feel It Still [2; Mediocre]
Not to brag but I used to like this song. What killed it for me was overplay. It kept getting worse and worse during its countdown run. It’s just a really weird song. I don’t find Portugal. The Man as good as other artists. They are better than crappy bands like AJR. Live In The Moment was worse and I was really happy that it flopped. It did re enter HitBound at one point but at least it didn’t re enter the countdown. This song is just mediocre for now.

38. Bebe Rexha – I’m A Mess [5; Great]
Many critics and other people think that Bebe Rexha have been going downhill. I’ll have to completely disagree with that. She’s doing a lot better now. This song is currently my favorite song on the countdown. It also sounds like a song from the early decade and songs from there were usually great. 2012 was he best year in music so far. This song wants to bring me back to the 2012 era. Bebe Rexha never disappoints.

37. Dua Lipa – IDGAF [2; Mediocre]
It’s not the swearing in this song that lowers my ranking but I find the production really annoying. The beat of the song is just not that tolerable. I find it very annoying and makes it a lot like a trap song. Also, in the chorus, they tell the people to shut up. And this isn’t really that interesting either.

36. Foster The People – Sit Next To Me [3; Decent]
I’m a big fan of Foster The People’s music. However, I kept losing interest in this song during its run. When it was losing popularity everywhere else, this song still kept going. And I honestly find lovelytheband a better version of Foster The People. It’s because lovelytheband’s Broken sounds a lot like Pumped Up Kicks in the chorus. I honestly lost interest in this song after Broken was added onto the countdown on Hits 1. I still find it very weird that Broken didn’t make the list. That’s the better song.

35. Charlie Puth/Kehlani – Done For Me [5; Great]
Charlie Puth collaborating with Kehlani was pretty much unexpected. He’s a very good singer and all. Kehlani is also very good. But to be honest, this song is just not as good as others say it to be. They say that this song is better than The Way I Am. The Way I Am is better that Done For Me but not much. As this song is really good, TWIA is just amazing. I don’t find this as interesting as other people say it is. I’d say it’s a little bit overrated for the most part. I’m also very surprised that How Long was ranked a lot higher than this song.

34. Marshmello/Bastille – Happier [5; Great]
This song does make me happier for a point. Marshmello is a really good DJ and Bastille is also a really good singer. Marshmello is one of my favorite DJs. I also like his marshmallow mask. I believe that it’s so cute.

33. G-Eazy/Halsey – Him & I [5; Great]
Many of G-Eazy’s music I’m not a fan of. I did not like Wicked and it was a pretty Wicked song if you ask me. The chorus is so annoying of that song and I cannot stand it one bit. I was really happy that it didn’t make the countdown because it only kept getting worse. I actually used to like that song and I was like what was I thinking. It’s very sexy and I honestly hate it now. Now for this song, this is far better than Wicked. I really like the production in this song. It’s such a really catchy production. And as I said, Halsey is a really good singer. I do find it very repetitive though, but it’s still good. She honestly hopes to die and she probably means that as a figurative language. It’s such a really good song. I don’t see how people can hate it.

32. The Weeknd/Kendrick Lamar – Pray For Me [4; Good]
It would’ve been a lot better if he hasn’t collaborated with Kendrick in this song. It’s one of those songs that have a bad collaboration. Many people also like his music too which sucks. I liked All The Stars so I guess he’s giving a lot of improvement. The Weekend has always produced at least decent songs. He’s one of those singer that never goes downhill. Well, let’s hope that it won’t happen in the future. He needs to collaborate with better artists to keep it going.

31. Imagine Dragons – Natural [4; Good]
I’m a huge fan of Imagine Dragons. However, their album, Origins is such a disappointment to their previous albums like Smoke & Mirrors. That was my favorite album from them. The only reason why I gave this a 4 and not a 5 is because the chorus really doesn’t make any sense. They say that you’re a Natural. We are all born naturally.

30. Maroon 5/Cardi B – Girls Like You [3; Decent]
This used to be a good song but overplay killed it for me. I don’t see myself growing back much into it in the future. Cardi B’s verse is pretty annoying. She makes the song even worse. The song would get a higher score if it wasn’t for her. However, the music video is pretty cool. I actually like how they show many artists like Camila Cabello.

29. Backstreet Boys – Don’t Go Breaking My Heart [4; Good]
The Backstreet Boys are an amazing band. I’m glad Hits 1 picked up this song this year. As it is really good, I still find it overrated. The repetition doesn’t make it a great song. It’s make it very easy to get sick of because of this. Plus Hits 1 overplayed this song like crazy.

28. Selena Gomez/Marshmello – Wolves [5; Great]
This song is much better than her Revival songs. In that album, she was whispering a lot in many of the songs. Hands To Myself was one of them. I find it a really good song despite her whispering. This song is like one of her songs from Stars Dance. Come & Get It was my favorite song of 2013 and she has shown her actual singing talent there. Slow Down was also amazing. Wolves shows that Selena is going uphill from her career rather than downhill now. I don’t want her to hit rock bottom at all. If she keeps going like she did in this song, she’s going to keep getting better.

27. Macklemore/Kesha – Good Old Days [0; Crap]
Sorry to say this but I’m not a fan of this song. It’s pretty slow and I do not like the new Kesha.  I don’t know how people can tolerate this. It guess because others say that this is beautiful. And what the heck happened to Kesha’s voice? I really liked her old voice. This song shouldn’t have become a hit at all. I was really upset when it hit #1 back in February. Thank god it only stayed on the #1 spot for one week. Macklemore needs to get out more good songs in the future.

26. Ariana Grande – No Tears Left To Cry [6; Best Song Of 2018]
This song is just amazing. I wouldn’t say that this song is overrated. It’s just way too good to be overrated itself. And when Ariana is yelling, she doesn’t yell as bad as other artists like Demi Lovato. I loved all her music since from the very beginning. She was the reason why I loved shows like Victorious. Victoria Justice is a good singer too but Ariana is diamond. This girl is not going downhill. Her entire Sweetener album is great with this being the best song. It’s also the best song of this year. I can’t find a song that is better than this song. She can really sing and hit those high notes. The repetition isn’t as bad as other songs at all. The music video is really cool and this single is very creative. I remember back in April when I was just jamming into this song. I still am, it’s just really good. I can’t get sick of this song. The production is also really catchy. This song makes me wanna cry happy tears. This is Ariana’s 2nd best song with her best being Break Free.

25. NOTD/Bea Miller – I Wanna Know [5; Great]
When this song debuted the countdown, I thought it was gonna flop for sure. I was wrong as this song is still going strong. It was not a hit elsewhere. Hits 1 is just a unique station. Which makes this song great is Bea Miller. She had a song in 2015 called Fire N Gold. Fire N Gold is still better than this song. As this song is going strong, it’s time for it to leave soon.

24. Khalid/Normani – Love Lies [5; Great]
Hits 1 does underrate African American artists but they didn’t with this song. What really inspires the song is Normani. She’s so good because she was in Fifth Harmony, a band that I was a huge fan of since Worth It from 2015. When they went on hiatus, I was really disappointed. But she still a really good singer outside of the band. She is why this song was overrated on Hits 1. Khalid is also a really good in this song unlike other songs that he hasn’t done great. He isn’t a really good rapper after all. This is by far his best song.

23. Camila Cabello – Havana [5; Great]
This is a very catchy song. Camila is just an amazing singer for the most part. Havana has such amazing lyrics. She wants to take back to Havana. I believe this is just an amazing song from her. I’m very happy that it stayed in the long run. She’s not as good solo as she was with Fifth Harmony but she’s still tolerable.

22. Camila Cabello – Never Be The Same [5; Great]
This is the 2nd Camila Cabello song in a row. I’d bet many of you guys are upset that this was ranked higher than Havana. The song is also a great song, but the pre chorus of the song is pretty annoying. That part of the song is the reason why it hasn’t made my top 45 songs this year. She’s a bit too high pitched but as for the rest of the song, it’s amazing. I don’t know why people would just hate a song just because of a small part that actually makes the song good after.

21. 5 Seconds Of Summer – Want You Back [3; Decent]
This is one of 5SOS’ lows. They’re a really good band but there’s a ton of songs from them better than this one. I can tolerate it for now but it’s not a great song. The song keeps repeating the same old beat over and over again. It’s really easy to get sick of. It’s not as bad as songs like Girls Talk Boys and She’s Kinda Hot though. I feel that it didn’t deserve its success it needed.

20. Marshmello/Anne-Marie – Friends [5; Great]
Marshmello did amazing in this song. Also, the collaboration with Anne-Marie is just awesome. The beat is just unbelievable and the drop in the chorus is just mesmerizing. They wanna try to spell friends and it’s really neat how they want to do that. It’s also really easy to remember the lyrics. It’s just an amazing song for the most part.

19. Charlie Puth – How Long [1; Bad]
I like Charlie Puth and many of his music but this song is a different story. This is just a disappointment to all his other songs. And no, it wasn’t the overplay that killed it for me. In fact, I never liked this song in the first place. It’s just really repetitive for the most part. There’s just many annoying parts to this song. Whenever he says “how long has this been going on,” it just makes me wanna kill myself. It definitely didn’t deserve its really long run on the countdown. It also shouldn’t be high up. This is definitely when Charlie reached rock bottom. The production is also really annoying for the most part. Sorry for the ones that like this song.

18. Niall Horan – On The Loose [5; Great]
Former One Direction member is back on the year end list with On The Loose. It’s just a really catchy songs in my opinion. Last year, he had This Town which was actually better than this song, but this song is still a great song. He also had Slow Hands which was overplayed at the time it was on the year end list. The production is what makes the song really good. He’s definitely on the loose with the beat of the song and especially the beat of the chorus. He’s not my favorite member from One Direction but he’s pretty close.

17. Shawn Mendes – In My Blood [5; Great]
I love Shawn Mendes’ music for the most part. He has only picked up singles for good songs which is a very good thing. When this song make its debut back in March, it wasn’t as good as it was now. Every week, it just became more interesting and was my favorite song at one point. But now, there’s better songs on the countdown which is why it’s no longer in purple. When NTLTC debuted, it was proven to no longer be my favorite song determining that I fell in love with that song. So yeah, because of that, it was the best song in its early tenure. What’s also really good is I just cannot get sick of this song one bit. It’s one of those songs that just always gets in my head. I really think that the beat is just amazing and the chorus is great. At least this song wasn’t as over-hated as his other songs like Treat You Better.

16. Lauv – I Like Me Better [0; Crap]
What the fuck is this song? It’s just not a song for the most part but just a meme. Everything is wrong with this song from beginning to end. Lauv seriously has no talent. When this song debuted the countdown, it wasn’t as bad but it still was as bad. After a few more listens, I realized how bad of a song this really is. The production is really annoying to the point that I really wanna kill myself. There’s seriously nothing even going on with it all. Lauv cannot sing and it’s just doesn’t make the song funny. I hate it in the chorus when he repeats the I like me better phrase. It’s just really annoying and stupid. This is the worst non rap song of the year. Songs like God’s Plan and Psycho were even worse. The lyrics and title do not make any sense either. How would you like yourself better? Lol, this shouldn’t even be this high in the list.

15. Selena Gomez – Back To You [5; Great]
Selena Gomez’s 2nd single in a row that isn’t like a Revival song at least. To be honest, this song is better than Wolves but not by a lot. She is also really singing in this song. Not only I think this is uphill for her but for many others too. Adrian likes it and it’s uphill for him. I honestly cannot believe Selena is back to here. As I said, let her not hit rock bottom.

14. Fall Out Boy – The Last Of The Real Ones [5; Great]
Fall Out Boy has been releasing many good music after Young & Menace which was trash. I think this song is great. They’re a really good band to be honest. However, their music is pretty much overrated for the most part. As for this song, it’s a great song without a question. I really like the tune in this song.

13. Imagine Dragons – Thunder [4; Good]
This song was also in last year’s YE list. I’ll have to admit that yes, I do like this song. Imagine Dragons have had a lot of better songs in the past though. This song doesn’t top their other songs. It’s really good but it got old fast. What I find really funny in this song is the Thunder lyrics misheard as Panda. Every time that happens, it reminds me of Desiigner’s Panda song which was a mess. I really do not like rap music very much and that was rap. I really think Dan Reynolds should be a little bit more low pitched in this song. That why this song is not one of their best songs.

12. Halsey – Bad At Love [3; Decent]
I like Halsey’s music but this isn’t that good of a song. It was better than Now Or Never from 2017. It was a great song when came out but with more listens, it got old really quickly. I find this song a bit repetitive for the most part. It’s still a decent song, just not her best.

11. Maroon 5 – Wait [1; Bad]
Maroon 5 barely has any bad songs. However, this is one of their bad songs. It seems like that Maroon 5 is really going downhill lately. They used to be an amazing band but their music keeps getting less interesting. They’re like not becoming a band anymore but just Adam Levine as a solo artist. Songs like She Will Be Loved, This Love, Misery, Payphone, Daylight, and many others are actually amazing. Their only bad songs is this one, This Summer’s Gonna Hurt, and One More Night. They reason why it’s not a really good song is because that the production is really bad. It’s just messy in my opinion and It’s definitely not something I would like to listen on repeat. I’ve never even liked this song. It was only mediocre when it was on HitBound but now, it only got worse. This band really needs to keep getting better instead of doing the opposite. Hopefully, their next album will be amazing.

10. Walk The Moon – One Foot [4; Good]
To be honest, I’ve always got tired of Walk The Moon’s music. I’m not a huge fan of them ever since Shut Up And Dance from 2015. It was #1 for 12 weeks all in between May and October of that year including my birthday. That is a really large spread for a song that hit #1. After that, I honestly started to hate Walk The Moon in general. This is why the song isn’t a great song. I can tolerate it for now.

9. Bebe Rexha/Florida Georgia Line – Meant To Be [5; Great]
This song is just amazing for the most part. I don’t see how so many people can hate such a meaningful song. The beat is so catchy to the point that I’ll have this song on repeat. Bebe Rexha is also an amazing artist in my opinion and she does not deserve hate. Miles, Montavis, and Waffle unfortunately I’d hate the song and I guess it’s because they cannot stan country music. This is a unique genre blending production we’ve heard from Bebe. And yes, I couldn’t get sick of this song at all. I also wished I didn’t put this in my top 45 songs of 2017 because of all the success it had this year. And yes, it kept getting better and better from more and more listens. This song definitely deserved its well deserved tenure on Hits 1.

8. Taylor Swift – Delicate [4; Good]
I’m a very huge fan of Taylor Swift and I like when she exited country and entered pop for a change. She is an amazing singer in both genres and she’s usually doesn’t disappoint me. This song, however, it not as good because of repetition. It does sound a lot like I Got You by Bebe Rexha and that song was the better song out of the 2. It’s also a bit overplayed as it just recently left the Hits 1 countdown. Reputation was a step downhill from 1989 because of songs like ...Ready For It? and Gorgeous and they both were that great. LWYMMD and End Game, in the other hand are both better than Delicate as they’re great songs. Hits 1 also overrated Taylor Swift as this countdown song lasted longer than I thought it would.

7. Hailee Steinfeld/Alesso/Florida Georgia Line/Watt – Let Me Go [5; Great]
Hailee Steinfeld is one of the greatest singers out there IMO. She’s unique and I’ve always loved her music from the very beginning. I know that many people hated songs like Starving which is really good. Most Girls is her best song by far. She really does show her talent in this song. This song is more EDM like and it’s not really country despite FGL being featured in this song. Hailee definitely needs to keep up with the good work.

6. Ed Sheeran/Beyoncé – Perfect [5; Great]
I’m not a fan of a lot of Ed Sheeran’s music but this is an amazing duet. The reason why I love this song so much is because it was the theme song of my prom last school year. It’s beautiful in many ways and I could never hate this song. I did get a little bit sick of it but it grew back into me. This isn’t as good as One Direction’s Perfect which was on of my favorite songs of 2016. This song is pretty much Perfect for slow ballroom dancing like I did in the prom. It definitely reminds me of when I graduated high school. I usually do not like boring songs but this is actually not that boring.

5. 5 Seconds Of Summer – Youngblood [5; Great]
I find it really weird that 5SOS is at #5 on the year end list this year. They’re an amazing band for the most part. This song was amazing in the beginning but I got sick of it. It’s still very high in the countdown. I love this song a lot and it was really successful here. It was also successful in many other platforms like the Billboard. As much as I’m begging for the song to leave now, this was actually great at the beginning. I do the opinions on songs I had in the start before I get sick of it. I’m also very glad that this song got as high as it was. It just shouldn’t have had Hits #1 so often and be in the top 10 for too long.

4. Panic! At The Disco – High Hopes [3; Decent]
High Hopes isn’t really that great of a songs. It’s probably one of Panic! At The Disco’s worst. Very repetitive for the most part. Brendon Urie is just also high pitched in a little bit of the song. It got old relatively quick and it hit #1 just too often. I hope Hey Look Ma, I Made It becomes very successful as it’s far better.

3. Panic! At The Disco – Say Amen (Saturday Night) [4; Good]
This song is better than High Hopes in my opinion. Brendon shows better talent here. As it’s still on the countdown, it definitely did have its success. This is not their best song but it’s really tolerable. This song could’ve had a chance to hit #1 but it just missed it by a little. Good production for the most part but it’s overrated.

2. Imagine Dragons – Whatever It Takes [2; Mediocre]
When this song debuted HitBound back in 2017, all the other entrants that debuted the same week were trash. This was an okay song but it really wasn’t anything special. It was still the best HitBound entrant of that week. During its long time on HitBound, it kept getting worse but not bad enough for me to hate it. I really like Imagine Dragons’ music but this was a disappointment to their others in Evolve. This kinda sounds more like an Origins song. It’s not as bad as Machine. That songs that’s still on HitBound is definitely when they hit rock bottom. The yelling is very bad. I also don’t think that this fast rap is meant for Dan Reynolds as he’s a really good singer without it. The chorus is probably the worst part just because it didn’t do whatever it takes to get it to be a good song. It shouldn’t have even been this high on the YE list either.

1. Zedd/Maren Morris/Grey – The Middle [3; Decent]
I get why this song is hated on but it’s better than people say that what it really is. People say that this is a mix of Starving and Stay, 2 songs that Adrian got completely sick of. He says that it’s his worst song of this year even being worse than ILMB. I love both Starving and Stay a lot as they were 2 of the best songs of 2017. As for this one, I don’t say Starving and Stay mix together well enough. Without mixing them would be great but it’s maybe the singer. Alessia Cara is a better singer than Maren Morris is which can definitely be a reason why this song isn’t as good. Hits 1 also overplayed it like crazy and it hit #1. So yeah, no surprise it hit #1 in this YE list.

2018 YE Post Part 2: My Top 45 Songs Of 2018

2018 had a lot of really good music. There were also bad ones here. Hits 1 picked up some amazing music this year and let the bad ones not graduate HitBound. It’s so nice that many singer get better but some just get worse. Now, before we get to my top 45 of 2018, here’s the 3 rules.

First of all, if a song is in my top 45 of 2018, it must make the countdown. If it makes HitBound but not the countdown, it won’t count. Even if it doesn’t make Hits 1, it still doesn’t count.

Secondly, songs that were in my top 47 songs of 2017 aren’t eligible for this list. Here’s the songs that left the countdown in 2018 but were considered in my top 45 songs of 2017.
Cheat Codes/Demi Lovato - No Promises (#5, left 01/13/18)
Macklemore/Skylar Grey - Glorious (#38, left 1/13/18)
Taylor Swift - Look What You Make Me Do (#27, left 01/27/18)
Shawn Mendes - There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back (#6, left 03/24/18)
Maroon 5 - What Lovers Do (#28, left 03/24/18)
Camila Cabello - Havana (#7, left 07/21/19)
Bebe Rexha/Florida Georgia Line - Meant To Be (#20, left 08/25/18)

And finally, the cutoff date is December so songs that debuted at December 1, 2018 or after aren’t considered in this list. Here’s the songs that debuted too late and will be first looked for consideration in my top 45 songs of 2019.
Ariana Grande - Thank U, Next
David Guetta/Anne-Marie - Don’t Leave Me Alone
Little Mix/Nicki Minaj - Woman Like Me
Lauv/Julia Michael’s - There’s No Way
Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho
Lauren Jauregui - Expectations
Olly Murs/Snoop Dogg - Moves

My Top 45 of 2018:
  1. Dua Lipa - New Rules
This is a really good song from her. She can really hit the high notes. This song is by far better than IDGAF. She is really unique in a way. When this song debuted the countdown, I had this song stuck in my head. This song was my sister’s dance solo last year. TBH, I was kinda pissed that it re entered because it got old.

  1. Twenty One Pilots – Jumpsuit
Twenty One Pilots are a really good duo. They’ve released an album this year called Trench. It was such a disappointment to their last album, Blurryface because they had some bad songs. This, however is not one of them. It has a really good production for the most of the song. The only part of he song that I really don’t like is Tyler yelling at the end of the chorus. It’s just obnoxious and doesn’t fit well with the song. Nevertheless, it was a really good song.

  1. Noah Kahan/Julia Michaels – Hurt Somebody
This is one of the few Julia Michaels songs I can actually tolerate. Back in 2017, she had Issues and Uh Huh with both of them being bad. But this year, she’s been going uphill with her music. Jump was really good but it didn’t make the countdown. I really like this song because really of Noah Kahan. This is such a relaxing song. Too Bad it wasn’t a big hit elsewhere. This song deserved more.

  1. Niall Horan – Slow Hands
I think I should’ve ranked this song in my top 45 songs last year. Niall is a really good singer and his solos doesn’t really disappoint. He’s not the best member from One Direction but his music is really good. I shouldn’t have gotten sick of this song because it’s so catchy. This was better than This Town by far. He is definitely a winner over Liam and Harry. Keep it up Niall. Hits 1 wants more Niall in 2019. I agree with that.

  1. Madison Beer – Home With You
The song and production is very catchy. I feel that Madison Beer is a very unique artist. She has a unique voice. This song deserved a lot better on Hits 1 and it shouldn’t have been a flop. They keep underrating the teen artists. They did that last year with all of Hey Violet’s 3 songs. The lead singer was 19 back then. Now, Madison is 19. I really hope we get more from her in the future.

  1. Calvin Harris/Sam Smith – Promises
Calvin Harris is a very great DJ. Despite choosing Sam Smith for this song, it’s still really good. It’s a very catchy EDM track. I’m losing interest in it. It’s not as good as I Need Your Love with Ellie Goulding which is his best song. I honestly think that he’s a better DJ than a singer. Hopefully, he will have much better songs in the future.

  1. Meghan Trainor - Let You Be Right
On DSR, Hits 1 used to put the title in the artist slot and vice versa. I thought that was really weird. Now, this song isn’t Meghan’s best really. She is a very good artist and it’s a very good song. I really like her vocals here. The song has a true meaning behind it. I don’t understand how people like Adrian could hate it. What makes it not one of Meghan’s best is really the production. There should be a better production. But nevertheless, it’s still an amazing song and Meghan did a well done job here.

  1. Selena Gomez/Marshmello – Wolves
This was a huge step up from Selena’s previous songs. Instead of whispering like she did a lot in Revival, she is actually singing. This is the Selena I like to hear. However, she did release Bad Liar last year which did involve whispering. Whispering Selena is still good but she shows more talent when she sings. It’s definitely not as good as songs like Come & Get It but it’s still very tolerable. If Selena keeps going in this path, I will keep liking her again and again.

  1. Ed Sheeran - Perfect
What a very sweet and moving song. This was a very good song which sadly wasn’t on my favorite songs of 2017. This was my prom theme song from my graduation last school year. Whenever I hear this song, it simply reminds me of my graduation. It has such a beautiful production. This is one of the tolerable slower Ed Sheeran songs. Amazing song that I should’ve never even got sick of.

  1. Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
More Ed Sheeran that I’ll need to review. This sadly wasn’t on my top 45 songs of 2017 either. It’s a jam and I really like the tune. It’s an Irish-like tune that is really catchy. This is easily the best song from Divide. He can really hit the high note as well. In the lyrics, he’s talking about a pretty Galway Girl which is an Irish girl that he likes. And I also really love Irish music. They’re a lot better than K-Pop and other types of world music. It’s a really catchy song that keeps getting stuck in my head. We need more Ed Sheeran songs like this. This vibe was really meant for him.

  1. Panic! At The Disco – Hey Look Ma, I Made It
Panic! At The Disco is a really good band in my opinion. They have many good songs but they get sick pretty quickly. This is far better than Say Amen (Saturday Night) and High Hopes which both hit #1. They’re now really bad. As for this song, I don’t really see myself getting sick of it anytime soon. This is their second best song with their first being Miss Jackson. After all, I’m glad this became a hit.

  1. MNEK/Hailee Steinfeld – Colour
Hailee Steinfeld is a really good singer but I don’t see this song as good as her others. It’s really good but MNEK is a different story. I don’t think this song was popular elsewhere. It wasn’t even popular here because it only lasted 5 weeks on the countdown. Hailee is a much better artist when she sings solo. Her music usually never disappoints me. Even hough it flopped, I’m so glad it made the countdown.

  1. Zayn/Sia – Dusk Till Dawn
Zayn and Sia are both really good singers. This is by far Zayn best song. The production is really catchy and it’s an amazing beat. There’s many songs that have this beat. To be honest, the best just usually doesn’t get old. Also, the message is amazing. He’s been waiting from dusk to dawn and he’ll be right here. A song like this is a dream come true and definitely deserved more on Hits 1.

  1. Juice WRLD – Lucid Dreams
This was such a hated rap song. I don’t know how it was hated, it’s a very good song. It does sound like a dreaming song and it completely matches the title. Juice WRLD isn’t a very good rapper but this is by far his best song to date. It’s beautiful and very catchy. I believe why people hated this was because of him not being a good rapper. The production of the song is really beautiful and the song has a really good message. His vocals aren’t that bad either in this song. But nevertheless, it’s an awesome song.

  1. Ariana Grande – Breathin’
I’m a huge fan of Ariana Grande from beginning the end. She never disappoints me with her music. I can see why that is. This song is really mesmerizing but it’s just not as good as her other songs. Break Free was my all time favorite song and she collaborated with Zedd in that song. It’s repetitive so I may get sick of it soon. But now, it’s just a great song.

  1. Louis Tomlinson – Miss You
Louis Tomlinson is my favorite member from One Direction. He is the one that made One Direction music absolutely amazing. I loved Drag Me Down and Perfect. I also loved What Makes You Beautiful and Story Of My Life. His first single outside of One Direction was Just Hold On with Steve Aoki. He released this song because his mother died from Leukemia. That has actually happened 2 years ago so time goes so fast. Just Hold On was just a really good song that sticks with me until I got sick of it. Back To You was also really good and he collaborated with Bebe Rexha. She’s an amazing singer as well. And now, thank God this song made then countdown.

  1. The Wrecks – James Dean
This song describes an old actor James Dean. Well not only the message is appealing but it show honest into the song. The production is really good and I have a feeling that it wasn’t that bad. I don’t see how there could actually be people that hate it. Unfortunately, this song didn’t get outside of Hits 1. That was bad too because I loved this song. It didn’t even have a really long tenure here. Oh well.

  1. Selena Gomez - Back To You
I honestly don’t know which Back To You was better because they were both good. Selena’s a really good singer and as I said in Wolves, she shouldn’t be whispering in her songs. This is better that Wolves because of the more catchy production in the song. Unlike Wolves, this took me a while to get sick of when in Wolves, it only took me a short time. Due to how successful this song is, it’s going to survive to 2019.

  1. G-Eazy/Halsey – Him & I
What a good song and it was far better than Wicked. Wicked was just weird but this is really good. Halsey sounds great in this song. She doesn’t disappoint usually. The only exception was Now Or Never which I find boring and a complete rip off of Rihanna - Needed Me. I was glad that Needed Me never even made Hits 1 though. But at least this song made my list.

  1. All Time Low – Last Young Renegade
Hits 1 picks up songs from this really good alternative band. All Time Low keeps getting better. In 2015, they had a song called Something’s Gotta Give and it wasn’t really that great of a song. I got sick of it rather quickly. Plus it did have a long tenure on Hits 1. This one had a 4 week only tenure which sucked. I expected this song to last a lot longer. Maybe like about 20 weeks instead of only 4. This is a jam.

  1. Hailee Steinfeld & Alesso/Florida Georgia Line/watt – Let Me Go
Hailee Steinfeld is a really good singer. In fact she has many songs that at get stuck in my head. Because of overplay, this isn’t really as good as her other songs. I started to get sick of in that week where we had a 4-way-tie for the biggest drop. But after it left, it’s actually really good again. Not her best though but it’s tolerable. I’m glad I didn’t put it in my top 45 of 2017 because of its success here.

  1. NOTD/Bea Miller – I Wanna Know
This song wasn’t a big hit elsewhere. When it debuted the countdown, I seriously thought it was going to flop in like a 5-10 week tenure. I was way off as it’s still on the countdown. At least it didn’t flop but it shouldn’t still stay on the countdown. It was a really good song but I got sick of it due to its long tenure. I’m still proud and glad of myself that this has made my top 45 songs of 2018. The song is pretty easy to get sick of because of it being repetitive and all. As it tried to be a hit elsewhere and it didn’t happen, this song is fortunately not gaining popularity.

  1. The Chainsmokers/Kelsea Ballerini – This Feeling
This is by far The Chainsmokers’ best song to date. The production is very catchy and he chorus is just something that keeps getting stuck in your head for a long time. It may actually be a while before I get sick of this song. When it reached #1 on the countdown last week, I was in love. This is because songs like Youngblood and High Hopes were really overplayed and people just still like it. Kelsea I think might’ve made it a lot better. I’m very glad that this song was successful and got announced on the countdown by Spyder Harrison.

  1. The Vamps – Just My Type
The only Vamps song that didn’t flop on Hits 1 was Somebody To You which was actually really good. Oh Cecilia, Wake Up, All Night, and this song all pretty much flopped. Out of the 4 songs, this song has the shortest tenure with Oh Cecilia being a close second lasting 1 week longer. This song definitely deserved more success and shouldn’t have flopped. I honestly think the reason why most of The Vamps songs flopped on Hits 1 was because none of them were really hits.

  1. Troye Sivan – My My My!
This song is better than both Youth and Wild. The latter, however, did not graduate HitBound while the former had a nice run. As for My My My!, 5 weeks on the countdown wasn’t enough. It deserved a better run. It should’ve lasted on the countdown about as long as Youth. I have a feeling that this song was very underrated and it should’ve been more rated. But at least it made the countdown.

  1. Kim Petras – Heart To Break
Kim Petras is new here as opposed to other stations. She is actually transgender. That means that she was born a male but was turned into a female. TBH, I would never do that. Anyway, this is a really great song that deserved more on Hits 1 that it really did. The production is catchy and she can really hit those high notes. Hopefully, Hits 1 picks up another song from her later on.

  1. Khalid/Normani – Love Lies
I’m not a real big fan of Khalid myself. The reason why is was ranked really high was because of Normandi. She was on Fifth Harmony which was my favorite band. I really like the song and the vocals are catchy. Khalid has improved so much after Young, Dumb, & Broke. But after that, Location is just trash. It’s too bad Hits 1 doesn’t like black people but this has became big. It’s like that the countdown is based more on votes. Normandi is a better singer than Lauren IMO. At least this song was successful.

  1. Bazzi/Camila Cabello – Beautiful
As I was not a fan of Mine, I’m a fan of this song. That’s because Bazzi chose Camila Cabello to collab with. She is just a great singer. She sometimes can get too high pitched like in Never Be The Same but this is a really good song. As I said, Fifth Harmony just never disappoints me very much. The song is even beautiful itself.

  1. Meghan Trainor – No Excuses
So many people hate Meghan Trainor and think she’s going downhill. I honestly agree that she’s going downhill as this song wasn’t as good as songs like Lips Are Movin. But the point is that this song is still really good. It’s a bit repetitive but I really like it. What I disagree is that Meghan is hated. Meghan is just too overhated as an artist in general. She’s a really good artist and her music doesn’t disappoint.

  1. Benny Blanco/Halsey/Khalid – Eastside
I’m glad this made Hits 1. Because this song had Khalid, that doesn’t mean it won’t make the countdown. It’s an amazing song from start to finish. I still can’t get sick of this song. It’s just a very fun and catchy beat to get into. Halsey is really good too and it’s a shame not too many like her part in the song. But nevertheless, it’s a great song.

  1. Sabrina Carpenter – Almost Love
Sabrina Carpenter was an actress in the Disney channel show, Girl Meets Worlds. I used to love that show when I was younger. She’s a very good singer as well. Last year, she had a song on the countdown called Why and it was hated by many of us in the blogging community. However, it’s not hated by my By any means. This song was a better song in the community and many people loved it. . definitely loved it and was begging for it to debut. It did debut but it didn’t last very long in the countdown. It was one of the many songs this year that lasted only 5 weeks. That’s bad because it deserved better.

  1. Clean Bandit/Demi Lovato – Solo
Two weeks just wasn’t enough for this song. It’s so amazing and these 2 made a very good collaboration. I love Clean Bandit and this is such a good song. My birthday weekend wasn’t as good this year due to the departure of this song. It’s a good thing that this song didn’t have the shortest tenure of the year. The award belongs to I’ll Never Love Again with staying for only one week. At least this made the countdown.

  1. Fall Out Boy – Hold Me Tight Or Don't
This is Fall Out Boy’s best song to date, with it being better than Young Volcanoes. I don’t know why this song was overhated in the first place. It’s a lot better than Young & Menace which was trash. Fall Out Boy’s music is really overplayed but I couldn’t get sick of this song. It definitely deserved better.

  1. Rudimental/Jess Glynne/Macklemore/Dan Caplen – These Days
Rudimental has a song in 2012 called Feel The Love and it was a bad song. It ruins John Newman’s voice and it just wasn’t worth it. This song, on the other hand is amazing. This sound a lot like a song from the last decade and those songs are great. It can also sound like a 2012 song. Also, this is a very unique collaboration. As I’m not really fan of Jess Glynne, she doesn’t do really much to this song. But it also lasted longer on the countdown than I expected it to. I expected it to be a flop. But amazing song.

  1. Shawn Mendes – In My Blood
Shawn Mendes has became a better singer than ever this year. In My Blood is a song that definitely deserved to be on repeat. It’s such a good song. I cannot get sick of it. Other songs I have got sick of from him. I’m so glad that it’s still on the countdown and hopefully, it survives to 2019. I don’t see how anyone could hate the song.

  1. Charlie Puth – The Way I Am
How Long was garbage compared to this song. However, this is Charlie’s 2nd best song, he first being Marvin Gaye with Meghan Trainor. I really like the production in this song. It has a really nice beat and it fits perfectly with the song. His vocals are very unique in this song. He can hit those note really high. I don’t understand why people like Adrian hate it. It’s just too good of a song to hate.

  1. Anne-Marie – 2002
Anne-Marie is such an amazing singer. I like how she wants to go back to 2002. In that year, I was a toddler. I was very cute back then. I was in daycare and daycare was fun. Now, I’m in college and it’s just not as fun. I’ll have to do work. Homework and other work really stinks. I really wanna go back to 2002. I seriously miss my childhood so much. I can’t believe that time goes too fast. I seriously miss my childhood. The lyrics are what makes the song amazing. Other than the lyrics, I really like the production. The tune is clean and Anne-Marie’s voice is completely suitable for this song. Hopefully, we will see more songs like this.

  1. NF – Lie
NF is an Eminem 2.0, however, NF is far better. His music isn’t disappointing at all. He’s a really good rapper for the most part. His Perception album is amazing and his music is really catchy. It’s one of those songs that I can’t get sick of. I really like the lyrics and and lying like that makes sense. Too bad that it flopped on Hits 1.

  1. Shawn Mendes/Zedd – Lost In Japan
The remix of this song is far better than the original. Zedd definitely puts a nice twist into this song. And I find the lyrics really good. The message is about himself heading to Japan. He finds that he’s lost and all. Also, I really wanna go to Japan one day because it’s such a beautiful place. Places like Tokyo are really busy and crowded and you easily can get lost. I’m glad this song made Hits 1.

 6. Dustin Atlas/Erin Bowman – Fake Friends
This song is really catchy for the most part. It’s nice to see Erin Bowman again after she flopped with Good Time, Good Life. Unfortunately, this song didn’t become became a hit elsewhere because it’s a very good song. It has a catchy production and talks a lot about fake friends. I have a lot of fake friends in my mind. They’re imaginary friends to my heart.

  1. Ariana Grande – God Is A Woman
I have really enjoyed Ariana Grande ever since she started her music career. She is a really good singer and all her songs are great. In 2016, she’s released Side To Side which was one of her best songs. I like how she used a reggae vibe style for both Side To Side and this song. However, nothing can top her song, Break Free which was too good. I just don’t know why the reggae vibe from Ariana is hated. Adrian hated Side To Side because of the reggae vibe. I was also surprised of him hating it because he barely got sick of it on the week it left. GIAW is not as good as Side To Side but it’s still really good. Adrian hates this song as well.

  1. Marshmello/Anne-Marie – Friends
Here’s more Anne-Marie. She is collaborating with Marshmello with this song. This another song that was overhated. It’s such a good song that I shouldn’t have gotten sick of. I mean Anne-Marie sounds really good in the chorus. She isn’t high pitched. It’s not a messy song. The song itself is really good and I’m glad it became a hit.

  1. NF – Let You Down
Here is another NF song that shouldn’t have been overhated. Let You Down is better than Lie and it deserved better. It didn’t have such a long tenure and I’d rather have the song stay in the countdown for a longer time. I cannot get sick of this song one bit. The rap verses are amazing and the chorus is really sweet. However, the music video is pretty weird in my opinion. Other than that, the song is really good.

  1. Bebe Rexha – I'm a Mess
Bebe Rexha’s music has always been good. She keeps producing good songs. Unfortunately, I couldn’t rank Meant To Be here because it was in my top 45 songs of 2017. It was here because I honestly thought it was going to flop. However, it didn’t and now this song is taking over. Bebe Rexha is a very talented singer. She music career is going uphill. She hasn’t disappointed me one bit with her music. The lyrics are also really catchy and it’s an amazing song. She’s needs to keep it like this and not go downhill like many other singers are doing.

  1. Ariana Grande – No Tears Left To Cry

This is is unbelievably amazing and is such a masterpiece. Ariana can really sing and she’s so talented like Bebe. The song itself is so mesmerizing. I honestly believe this is Ariana’s 2nd best with her best being Break Free. Break Free is my all time favorite song and I’m glad that it became a hit. I honestly think this artist is amazing in general she is in sync whenever she sings. Thank god we’ve got another favorite song from her. Sweetener is just a great album and this song is no exception. Every song from her album is great. I can’t even get sick of this song. Amazing song that deserved to be on the countdown.
